A plant that thinks in flows

Gas, steam, compressed air, material and information all move through a plant. Pick a building to see one everyday task from signal to decision.

Gas holder and stoves

Balance by-product gas across processes

  1. Stoves change over — When hot-blast stoves switch, blast-furnace gas demand jumps and the holder level swings.
  2. Forecast the swing — Models on Core forecast the holder level and the surplus that would otherwise be flared.
  3. Dispatcher confirms — A staggered stove schedule goes to the dispatcher, who confirms it. The result is tracked against the forecast.

Boiler house

Review boiler efficiency against its baseline

  1. Efficiency drifts — Calculated efficiency falls below the baseline for the current load.
  2. Separate the causes — The calculation separates fuel quality from operating settings such as excess air.
  3. Shift lead reviews — An adjustment with its evidence goes to the shift lead. Nothing changes until it is approved.

Compressed-air station

Match compressed-air supply to real demand

  1. Pressure set too high — Header pressure sits well above what the production lines actually need.
  2. Check leaks and control — Flow at night and compressor staging reveal leakage and control losses.
  3. Apply after confirmation — A new set-point and staging plan are applied after the station owner confirms them.

Dust-collector fan

Diagnose equipment and prepare maintenance

  1. Signals leave the band — Vibration and filter differential pressure leave their normal band for this operating state.
  2. Match and flag — A known fault pattern matches; the part that does not fit is flagged for an expert.
  3. Maintenance prepared — Records, checks and parts are prepared before the crew goes out, and the outcome is logged.

Quality lab and line

Trace a quality problem to its source

  1. A coil fails inspection — An inspection result falls outside the specification.
  2. Trace upstream — Process conditions and raw-material batches linked on Core are followed back step by step.
  3. Expert confirms — A quality expert confirms the cause; other batches with the same history are checked.
